About Us
The Palmer Youth Basketball Association (PYBA) is dedicated to offering basketball programs for the youth of Palmer, MA, from grades 1 through 8. Our mission is to instill a love for the game while developing skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a fun and supportive environment.

Volunteer Opportunities
PYBA is a volunteer-run organization, and we rely on the dedication and support of our community. We are always in need of more volunteers! Whether you’d like to attend our board meetings, coach a team, assist with fundraising, keep score, or help manage a team, your contribution makes a difference. Please consider getting involved to help us continue offering great basketball programs for Palmer's youth.

Our Programs
We offer three programs tailored to various skill levels:

Instructional Program (Grades 1-2): Focused on teaching basketball fundamentals, this program introduces young players to the game through practices and supervised game play. It meets two weeknights per week from January to early March at Old Mill Pond School, with no travel required.

Recreational League (Grades 3-8): Designed for players with introductory to moderate skills, the Recreational League starts practicing in December, with games running from January to early March. Players will have 10-12 games, both at home and in nearby communities, with 1-2 practices and 1 game per week. Equal playing time is the goal, making this league ideal for skill development and fun.

Suburban League (Grades 5-8): For players seeking a more competitive experience, tryouts are held to form the Suburban League teams. Practices start in November, and games run from December through March. Each team plays 16 games, half at home and half in neighboring towns, with 2-3 practices and 1-2 games per week. While playing time is not guaranteed in this league, players are encouraged to grow through practice and observation.

Dual Participation: Players are welcome to participate in both the Recreational and Suburban Leagues. This is especially beneficial for players in the Suburban League who may not get significant playing time, allowing them to gain more game experience. While there may be scheduling conflicts, these can be managed by working closely with the coaches from both teams.
